BLAENGWEN, ALLTWALIS - ten wind turbines.
Although the application by Force9/Catamount was
approved by the County Council
Planning Committee, it was subsequently was rejected
by
the Departures Committee. The latest unconfirmed news
appears to be that Force 9 is applying to conduct
hydrology tests on the original site and is going to
apply for the two monitoring masts to be retained - as
yet there is nothing registed on the County Council
website for either of these. Force 9 are reported to
be considering either submitting a revised application
or putting in an Appeal.

WIND MONITORING MASTS - two new planning applications
on the County Council website: both of them are from
applicants Airtricity Holdings Ltd of Dublin with
the Agent as Dulas Ltd of Machynlleth. They are both
to be located on Forestry Commission land and are for
the erection and operation of 70 metre meteorological
monitoring masts "for the purpose of collecting wind
resource data".
The two applications are as follows:

half a mile to the east of the Blaengwen site.

LLANFYNYDD RENEWABLE ENERGY PARK - 16 turbines?? no
actual application has been made yet by developers
Gamesa but is expected at any time - visuals being put
together by CLAWS show the immensity of the visual
impact on Brechfa Village and the Cothi Valley.
CLAWS met on January 17 to discuss recent
developments in the expected planning application for
the Llanfynydd Renewable Energy Park. An Environment
Agency representative has visited the area at their
request to evaluate the potential for the wind turbine
development overlooking Llanfynydd and Brechfa
villages to affect and change the water runoff from
the hillsides and flooding risk in the Cothi Valley.
He also raised concerns at the access routes since the
Cefn Croes development required the main trunk road to
be closed to enable transport of larger components to
the site. The CLAWS group meet every two weeks.
Details of the meetings are available by contacting
claws1@btinternet.com/01558 668983.
