Best Known as an area of outstanding natural beauty, brimming with lakes and legends. The landscape including 50 miles of sandy coast, lush farmlands, forest and moorland offering a diversity of interests and activities to the visitor.

Historic sights go back to the largest iron age fort in Wales at Carn Goch near Llandeillo, Roman gold mines, Norman Castles and late Welsh castles of the 12th century.      Carmarthen town, the agricultural centre of west Wales, dates back to AD75 and was an important administrative centre of  Roman Britain.      More recent places of interest include Dylan Thomas's Boathouse and the Babs Museum of Speed near Pendine Sands where the fist land speed record and trials made history.

Wildlife and nature, for birdwatchers and naturalists there is much to observe. The rare Red Kite thrives in the northern parts of the county and at the Wildfowl and wetlands centre along the Lougher Estuary birds from all over the world can be spotted, those who enjoy walking or horseriding will find the Brechfa forest a paradise of footpaths, bridleways and forest tracks with open moorland to the north.

Streams and rivers thread throughout, and anglers can find salmon and trout in season. Other sport and leisure activities are all available throughout the season, Sailing, Surfing and swimming are popular along the coast  and several towns have full indoor leisure centres. Golf is extremely popular in this area with local courses set in magnificent surroundings. There are many other activities to enjoy, cycling, canoeing or just sitting and contemplating the views, there can be no more beautiful place to do it.
